I truly dislike synopses disguised as reviews! If that's what you're looking for, read no further.Interesting premise, doesn't feel rehashed. Fairly smooth plotline and writing. Decent character development for the protagonist. Also well edited, very few glaring typos. That last is important to me because running into those, for me, is the mental equivalent of turning my ankle walking - it may be a great day, but all I can focus on is my ankle. Bad editing ruins books.I enjoyed it enough to buy the second book in the series. I really enjoyed this book a lot. Definitely going on my re-read list. I loved Ollie, the little dragon. Jacoby the dervish is my favorite though and I can't wait to see him in future books. Hoping we get to follow Kyra on some of her jobs been saving the world though.Spoiler:Just a warning, this book has a few darker moments in it. If violence against innocents (animals in this case) or just violence in general bothers you, approach this book with caution or skip it all together. There are some heart breaking moments.
